/ the story
Why MonLien exists.
A short film, in scroll form. This one's personal.
south/ scene one — the hope
It starts the way it always starts.
You download the app. You write a bio you half-believe. You tell yourself this time will be different — and for a week, it honestly feels like it might be.
/ scene two — the machine
We kept meeting everyone except the right person.
The apps promised connection. They delivered a slot machine — pull, match, repeat. Bright lights, tiny hits of maybe, nobody home.
/ scene three — the flood
Too many faces. Too little meaning.
When everyone is an option, no one is a choice. The deck never ends, so nothing counts. Another face is always one flick away — so why would anyone stay?
/ scene four — the silence
Nobody said what they wanted.
Matches with no intent. Chats that die on “hey.” Ambiguity isn't an accident — confusion keeps you swiping. Clarity was never the business model.
/ scene five — the delete
So we deleted the apps. Twice.
Everyone does. The apps count on you coming back lonelier. We came back angrier — with a question: what would dating look like if it respected your time?
/ scene six — the turn
So we made dating deliberate.
One page that says who you are and what you want. Your questions. Written applications from people who actually read it. Intent, stated up front — before anyone's time gets spent.
/ the name
Mon lien.
French for “my link” — and “my bond.” One link in your bio that carries real intent, and turns it into something real.
